Class One railroads were well supplied with a plethora of modern GE locomotives for use on their main line trains. BNSF occasionally ran several trains with older EMDs on their Staples Sub in Minnesota. In the year 2021, we followed westbound trains from Coon Rapids to Lincoln, Minnesota, along with a few scenes from 2018.
A huge variety of 4 and 6 axle EMDs can be seen on both local and road freights. Burlington Northern colors still adorned a few locomotives while many are now dressed in new BNSF black and orange. Some of the 4 axle models we see are GP38-2’s, GP28P’s, GP39-3’s and GP60M-3’s just to name a few. 6 axle models include SD40-2’s, SD60M’s, SD70MAC’s, SD70MACe’s and SD75’s.
Most of these locomotives are on borrowed time, so capturing these now was a must. Two hours of great EMD entertainment is here in Staples Sub EMDs, Volume 4!
