SD40-2 Survivors Volume 2

In January 1972, EMD introduced the SD40-2.This 3,000 horsepower model was one of the most reliable and effective locomotives ever developed.The SD40-2 and its 645 prime mover have operated on railroads for nearly 50 years.Once superior main line power, it has been overtaken by more efficient computerized engines. Every train in this program features SD40-2’s leading class one main line trains in all kinds of service from the years 2008-2016.Volume 2 includes BNSF, Canadian Pacific, Union Pacific, Canadian National and Norfolk Southern trains in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.Adding to the variety, other roads are found leading these trains including Dakota Minnesota & Eastern, Iowa Chicago & Eastern, Illinois Central, CSX and several leased engines.In an age where high hood locomotives are becoming extremely rare, we catch a couple of these relic SD40-2’s on the NS!Whether it is switching in yard service or pulling a main line train up a 2% grade, the SD40-2 will always be remembered for its reliability!Its prime mover and large platforms gave this engine a signature sound and look.You can always keep the memories of this locomotive forever in SD40-2 Survivors, Volume 2!
